Perfectly. An earlier reviewer talked about the files being off, but he/she was using the wrong files and had a file within a file. I was concerned about that, but ordered it on faith and they work beautifully.

Not sure and not where I can measure. It holds standard hanging files just perfectly...both letter and legal...and the attached tabs fit well.

I bought four pieces...credenza, writing desk, two bookcases, oh yes and a chair. All are exceptional. I am a very particular shopper when it comes to furniture. Has to be just right. These items were just that. I was concerned about an earlier review about the credenza files space being slightly off. That reviewer was using the wrong kind of files, and a file within a file. These take hanging files, both letter and legal perfectly. The attached file tabs fit well. I love this piece. I put a piece of cut glass on the top for protection. These are high quality pieces for a reasonable price. Yes...buy it!

Allen Credenza - Quality Furniture!
This piece is exactly what I was looking for. I like that it has a mid century vibe. It is a well crafted piece of furniture made with real wood - none of that cheap pressboard. The drawers are perfectly aligned and open and close smoothly. It came fully assembled in a cardboard box that was packaged very well to protect it from any damage that sometimes happens during transport. All I needed to do was take it out of the box.
I am very impressed with this company's product.

Love the look but has flaws with design for hanging files
I love the look of this line in my home office. I had a very outdated desk. I work from home and needed something nice and with lots of space. We purchased the desk, credenza, bookshelf and small file cabinet (which I used to place my printer on).
We started moving my hanging files in the file drawer and realized there are some flaws in the design of the hanging file drawers. :(
There is at least a 3-4 inch gap at the bottom of the hanging files. The rod inserts could have easily been drilled further down to allow for hanging files and tabbed folders.
Also the rod holes are not aligned. The hanging file sits on the rod fine in the back of the drawer but doesn't sit fine in the front of the drawer. The distance between the rod holes are are not even from the back of the file drawer to the front.
My fix before I exchange this item is to try a hanging file insert from the local office supply store. The drawer is also very wobbly and I hope it holds the files without breaking. I would really dislike having to return the credenza. I have looked for something like this for a very long time. I would like all my furniture to match in the room.
The look of this these 4 pieces in the room was a great addition aside from these flaws. Due to the price, design flaws and added purchase of hanging file inserts, I gave it a 2 star rating. If this item holds the weight of the files once in use or Living Spaces confirms this is a fixable flaw and will replace/exchange the items, I will re-rate.
I think a 5 star for the sleek look is in order though. I also received great customer service at the store and by the delivery drivers. 5 stars to each of them.
