Do you need a bunky board for the Alton bed?
With a platform bed, seems like the mattress should sit fine on it alone without a bunky board. Does anyone have suggestions? Thanks.
A Bunky Board is not required for the Alton Umber Queen Platform Bed however we do recommend it for additional slat protection.

great bed but supports underneath show ugly
Great looking bed. The only issue is that the support blocks underneath, which can be seen from the foot of the bed are raw lumber and the bed is stained dark... looks cheap not staining that too.

Clean Timeless Minimalist Design
I went to the Monrovia store in person to look at this model before making the online purchase. I like the clean timeless minimalist design made from good quality wood. Assembling the frame was quick and easy, no screws required. The bed slats took a little longer, you have to screw each one individually, I used an electronic drill to screw the slats faster. I purchased a hybrid Q mattress and it fit perfectly on the bed frame. Definitely recommend having 2 people assemble this product as the pieces are heavy.

Assembly
We really like the look of this bed! The only reason for 4 stars vs. 5 stars is the assembly. Assembly was not difficult, however we were told 10-15 minutes by the sales team, which was not the case. The support beams going across the bed under the mattress had to be nailed in every few inches on each side, which took time to complete.
